History
The need for a new generation of the long-pulse solar simulator was only a question of time given the advancements in PV technologies.
Thereof, Avalon ST was founded in 2018 by Marcos Barrigon, Damien Etienne and Gavin Dong to address the needs to come.
Together, the founding team cumulate over 30 years of experience in the solar industry in technical, sales, and service, having worked for leaders like Pasan, Meyer Burger, and TUV Rheinland.

Founder
Damien Etienne
With a background in electronic and software engineering, Damien has started his career in Pasan in 2007 as a service engineer, having commissioned over 100 solar simulators across the globe. He then joined TUV Rheinland in 2011 working on solar metrology and R&D in acquisition systems for PV for 7 years before co-founding Avalon ST. Damien is the author and co-author of several publications PV Metrology as well as the inventor of several patents.

Gavin Dong
Gavin joined 3S in 2009 and then Meyer Burger where he quickly became the sales N°1 for solar simulators in China. Gavin has a wide network in China as well as deep technical knowledge.

Advisor
Pierre-René Beljean
Pierre-René founded Belval in 1983 which later became Pasan after 3S (Meyer Burger) acquired the company. Pierre-René started developing solar simulators in the 90s and became a renowned person in the solar industry.
Today Pierre-René is the president of Solar Swiss Connect, a non-profit association aiming to promote the swiss solar energy know-how and technologies.
Pierre-René has deep knowledge and a long experience in the solar industry. He played a key role in developing photovoltaic in the region of Neuchâtel and abroad.

Christian joined TUV Rheinland in 2002 where he spent more than 10 years between Japan and Shanghai and held the role of General Manager for PV-modules.
